Discipline policies are designed to create an environment where learning and development of the child’s Islamic character is possible. All of our policies require the involvement of the parents or guardians of the child. Al Madrasa Al Islamiya encourages the teachers to establish relationships with the parents or guardians of each child in all their classes.
If there is a problem requiring a child to be sent to the dean, then either a phone conference or a face-to-face meeting is convened to address the issue of concern. Problems of a more serious nature are managed through a type of council of administrators where shuraa is applied to achieve the best outcome for the school and the child. The primary objective of Al Madrasa Al Islamiya is to develop Islamic character. Discipline is a collaborative effort.
Unscheduled School Closing
The school’s policy in case of emergency—snowstorm, state of emergency, etc.—is to follow the directives issued by the New York City Department of Education. Please listen to the radio, watch the news, or call 311 during these times. If the public schools are closed due to inclement weather or state of emergency, then Al Madrasa Al Islamiya will be closed.
